At 10:58 on April 21, amid the thunderous roar of ceremonial firecrackers, the #1 cooling tower of Section I of the Shandong Liaocheng Xiangguang 2×660 MW combined heat and power project—constructed by our company—was successfully completed. This milestone marks another significant achievement for the project and lays a solid foundation for the comprehensive advancement of subsequent works.

Since the completion of the lower ring beam pouring for Cooling Tower #1 on November 14,2025, the project team worked tirelessly for 158 days, overcoming numerous challenges to successfully complete the main structure's topping-out. During construction, they faced multiple difficulties—including the complex construction of the ultra-large-diameter reinforced concrete tower cylinder, stringent precision requirements for the hyperbolic structure, significant safety risks associated with high-altitude work, and winter construction conditions with low temperatures. Despite these challenges, all personnel persevered and advanced efficiently, ensuring the timely achievement of all milestones.

To strictly ensure project quality and construction safety, the project team innovatively adopted an electric rail cart material distribution system combined with a layered pouring technique, continuously optimizing process coordination to significantly enhance construction efficiency and operational stability. Construction and safety managers remained on-site throughout the process for real-time monitoring, while quality personnel rigorously implemented the "three-inspection system" —ranging from precise calibration of the tower radius to comprehensive testing of concrete strength. All parameters were strictly aligned with design specifications and industry standards, enabling meticulous control throughout the entire process and ensuring the double-curved cooling tower achieved a well-defined shape with a safe and reliable structure.

This project is a large-scale coal-fired power unit carried over from the national 13th Five-Year Plan and currently under construction, as well as a key project in Shandong Province for 2024 and 2025. Upon commissioning, it will effectively meet the growing load demands of the Shandong and Liaocheng power grids, further enhancing the grid's capacity to support power generation and ensure peak-hour supply. The project holds significant importance for optimizing the regional power generation structure, improving the clean and efficient utilization of coal power, ensuring stable and secure energy supply, and serving local heating needs. The successful topping-out of the cooling tower has accelerated the project's commissioning and power generation.
